Junior high school English homework plays an important part in English classroom teaching.It is also an essential way to improve the quality of education.Previous studies of English homework for junior high school students focus on teachers' homework assignments and find that teachers ignore the importance of the design of homework,so that the English Homework cannot achieve its proper efficiency.Through the examination of the Hauenstein's taxonomy of educational objectives,the following four focuses are extracted: the overall development,the learning process,the learning subject and the long-term objectives.This thesis aims to reveal the status and quo problems of the English homework for junior high school students from the perspective of the Hauenstein's taxonomy of educational objectives mentioned above.This study takes 240 students and 4 English teachers in No.10 junior high school in Yantai as participants,collects data through questionnaires and interviews,there are 236 valid questionnaires were collected,and data were analyzed via Excel and So-Jump.The interviews of four English teachers were recorded and transcribed,and finally presented in English in this thesis.The present study,therefore,attempts to answer the fowling questions:(1)What are the forms and contents of English homework for junior high school students?(2)What is its function?(3)What are the attitudes of students towards English homework for junior high school students?(4)What are the problems identified in English homework?Results of the survey demonstrate that:(1)At present,the forms of English homework for junior high school students are more diverse than previous years,but the content is mainly mechanical transcription and recitation,centering on textbook exercises and test papers,which has little to do with real life.(2)The purpose of English homework is to help students to master the basic information and improve their academic performance.In reality,it can improve students' English reading and writing abilities,but there are some deficiencies in the improvement of students' listening and speaking abilities.(3)Junior high school students consider the amount and difficulty of English homework to be moderate.Most junior high school students can finish their homework diligently.However,students do not pay much attention to the evaluation and feedback of homework.(4)The major problems in the design of English homework from the perspective of Hauensteins' taxonomy of educational objectives include the lack of attention to students' subjectivity and functions of the homework,and weak awareness in students' learning process,and their long-term development.
