As the basis of language input,listening plays an important role in the process of daily communication and English learning.For a long time,in the course of English teaching,teachers tend to pay more attention to the training of students' reading and writing skills and neglect the cultivation of students' listening and speaking ability in junior high school.In the long haul,the contradiction between English teaching and practical linguistic performance has caused students' general anxiety in the process of English listening.Students are reluctant to face with anxiety in the listening process.Some students even have a cheesed emotion in English learning,which seriously affects students' English scores.Therefore,it is urgent to explore the causes of students' English listening anxiety and find solutions to reduce their listening anxiety in junior high school.This study aims to discuss three questions based on Krashen's Affective Filter Hypothesis and Input Hypothesis.Question 1: What are the causes of students' English listening anxiety in junior high school? Question 2: What is the relationship between English listening anxiety and English listening scores? Question 3: What are the countermeasures of reducing students' English listening anxiety? The subjects of this study are from the two parallel classes of Grade Eight in No.13 Junior High School.The author adopts the traditional listening teaching mode in the control class,while the theories of affective filter and comprehensible input are adopted to reduce students' listening anxiety.This study explores the causes of causing students' English listening anxiety by questionnaire,interview and other forms.Meanwhile,this study tries to find out the relationship between listening anxiety and listening scores by analyzing the results of pre-test and post-test.After experiment,the result shows that there is significant difference between the experimental class and the control class.That is to say,there is significant negative correlation between listening anxiety and listening scores.For students' English listening anxiety,the author tries to find some strategies to reduce students' listening anxiety in the process of experiment.Firstly,teachers should change the traditional listening teaching mode and constantly innovate in teaching concepts and methods to ensure the effective input of knowledge.Secondly,students should strengthen the training of English phonetic knowledge and increase the learning of background knowledge.Furthermore,listening materials should be diversified.At the same time,teachers should strengthen the guidance of listening methods and skills.Finally,teachers should cultivate students' tolerance of ambiguity in the listening process and help students to grasp main ideas.These methods and countermeasures have enriched teachers' teaching focus theoretically,but they don't have been empirically studied for a long time.Therefore,more time and more work should be put into the further research.
