Drama comes from actual life,and it is highly symbolic.That means,on stage,by making full use of the stage resources,and with accurate representation of the role,the performers present the audience a virtual world to simulate a real society.In this virtual world,many possible things that would happen in actual life are portrayed by the actors'performance,including daily conversation.In everyday conversation,only when the hearer has a correct understanding of the speaker's conversational implicature,they can exchange information successfully.Similarly,only when the audience construe specifically the conversational implicature of the performers' lines,the performers can achieve the best drama-stage effect,that is,having a good interaction with the audience.Life is a stage,and daily conversation is a drama.The mechanism of conversational implicature in everyday talk,therefore,is fit for analyzing the implicature of drama lines.While most current studies on the implicature of daily conversation,home and abroad,have admitted the importance of both context and cognition in construing conversational implicature as well as the existence of a dynamic interaction between the two factors,this paper aims to disclose the concrete interactions between context and cognition and the specific functions of context upon people's cognition.Based on theories of context and Conceptual Blending Theory,using the lines in the network programme Love Smile as data,a Context-Cognition Blending Mechanism is constructed and elaborated.This paper illustrates that,in drama plays,non-linguistic context,linguistic context and paralanguage context form a Context Field.When the audience are construing the conversational implicature of drama lines,Context Field prompts the formation of a dynamic immediate context and activates the audience's previous knowledge.Thus,the construal frame of the audience's previous knowledge is projected into the dynamic immediate context,which helps the formation of the conceptual integration of the implicature of drama lines in the audience's mental space.The specific functions of Context Field upon the audience's cognition can be summarized as follows:complementing omitted meaning,restricting the referent,arousing emotional resonance,and generating new meaning.This Context-Cognition Blending Mechanism expounds how the audience understand the performers' intended meaning and achieve a successful interaction with the performers.
