English writing is playing an increasingly important role,no matter whether it is in English exams or in international communications.However,the practical teaching effects of present English writing has made both teachers and students concerned.In order to implement the spirit of the new high school English curriculum reform which calls for the practice of cooperative learning,this thesis starts with an analysis of the current situation of writing teaching in senior high schools.Based on the analysis of concrete effect of cooperative learning,it does practical research on the specific application of cooperative learning in the teaching of senior English writing,and finally exposes the necessity of practicing cooperative learning.The experiment takes two classes in senior two as its subjects.A whole series of shared activities on the part of both teachers and students,and in some specific cases,writing activities last about four months.Experimental data are collected and analyzed by means of pretests and post tests of the experiment,questionnaires and inquiries.Writing interest has a certain impact on writing ability,students who have a strong interest in writing English,are more competent in writing than those who lack interest in writing.Based on an analysis of these data,a conclusion is drawn,suggesting that cooperative learning relieves students’ anxiety in the process of English writing.It not only increases their confidence and interest,but also improves their writing ability and performance.Especially for the average students and the students below the average,they have made greater progress.In addition,the group cooperative learning can also cultivate students’writing strategies,helping students to write logical thinking training.Compared with the traditional teaching methods,group cooperative learning has obvious advantages.However,as a teaching method,it also has its disadvantages.It cannot be denied that in the exam-oriented system,the scientific and nationwide application of cooperative learning is an area worth further research and exploration.
