Educational internship is an important way to combine theoretical learning with teaching practice in real classroom situations to improve the ability of teaching practice.It provides valuable learning and teaching opportunities for pre-service teachers.Effective educational internships can help pre-service teachers to shorten the period of adaptation and lay a good foundation for their careers.The existing researches on educational internship include the exploration of different internship modes,the construction of evaluation system of educational internship,the professional growth of pre-service teachers in educational internships,and the researches on the current status of internships.Student satisfaction refers to the intrinsic psychological feelings of students who are the direct and intrinsic customers of education services.This feeling is perceived after comparing the initial expectation and actual result.Researches on satisfaction are also extensive,focusing on satisfaction with university,satisfaction with curriculum,professional and teaching quality.Satisfaction is an important factor affecting the professional growth of pre-service teachers during the educational internship.However,in China,there are few studies about the satisfaction of pre-service teachers with educational internships.The purpose of this study is to explore the satisfaction with educational internship of postgraduates of English education so as to enhance the effectiveness of educational internships and the professional growth of pre-service teachers.There are two research questions in this study:(1)What's the overall satisfaction and satisfaction in each dimension of pre-service teachers of the Master's Degree in English Education?(2)What are the factors that affect the satisfaction with educational internship of pre-service teachers of the Master's Degree in English Education?What are the promoting and inhibiting factors?The researcher adopted combined qualitative and quantitative research methods,using questionnaire and interview to collect data and investigating 54 interns of Master's Degree in English Education in a normal university directly under the Ministry of Education.The following research results are obtained:Postgraduates of the Master's degree in English education are generally satisfied with the overall educational internship and each specific item.According to the satisfaction degree,the grades from high to low are the satisfaction with the cooperating teacher,the practicum school,the instructors in the normal university,the normal university and self-ability.In the dimension of the normal university,pre-service teachers are most satisfied with the internship school arranged by the normal university.The number of pre-service teachers who are satisfied with the curriculum of the school is the least,and the score of satisfaction with the assessment of the educational internship is the lowest.In the dimension of the internship school,pre-service teachers are most satisfied with the interpersonal environment of the teachers and students in the internship school,and the most dissatisfied with the way in which the internship school manages the intern.In the dimension of the school's instructor,pre-service teachers are most satisfied with the guidance ability of the school's instructors,and are most dissatisfied with the guidance frequency of the school's instructors.In the dimension of the the cooperating teachers in the internship school,pre-service teachers are most satisfied with the mentor's ability to guide the interns,and the most dissatisfied with the instructor's attitude of guidance.In the dimension of self-ability,pre-service teachers are most satisfied with their interpersonal communication skills in the process of educational internship,and are most dissatisfied with their ability to innovate in the educational practicum.Reasons accounting for pre-service teachers' general satisfaction include students' expectations and gains in educational internships and satisfaction with instructors in the practicum school.The main factors that lead to lower student satisfaction in some schools include:the importance of the internship school and the instructor attaches to the interns,the teaching ability of the instructor and their trust of the interns,and the management of the internship school.In view of the fact that there is still much room for improvement of educational internship of Master's Degree in English Education,this study puts forward implications on how to improve the satisfaction of educational internships as follows:increase the proportion of professional courses and the curriculum should be more practical;combine formative assessment with summative assessment;implement concentrated and decentralized practicum mode;clarify the duties of instructors in the school and increase the frequency of guidance;select internship bases carefully and strengthen cooperation with primary and secondary schools;democratic selection of the internship team leader to strengthen cooperation between the internship groups;students should strengthen their initiative in learning to improve their knowledge reserves and teaching skills.
