Emily Dickinson(1830-1886),one of the most outstanding poetess in the 19th century.During her life,1775 poems was compiled in aggregate, and she was famous in literary circles because of her profound ideological connotation, novel poetic images and unique creative style.Nature was the main theme of Dickinson's poems, and she wrote more than five hundred poems on the theme of nature, which represented her extraordinary feeling for nature. Her attitude towards nature was contradicting, containing both adoration and suspicion, which ran counter to the well-established tradition of devaluing the nature adhered by the convention. This contradictory attitude represented the consciousness of feminine and ecology in her poems. From another perspective, nature serves the role of maternity, and the link between the ecology and feminine performs the same effect on her presentation of the consciousness. The advancing masculine brain in the combination with the vested ecological thought, contributes to her unique poetic characteristics.Strictly,Emily Dickinson is not an ecofeminist, but her poems are filled with the atmosphere of ecofeminism. It could be deduced that there exists intrinsic and natural relation between nature and women. The unique experience as well as her poems, make her become the essential character in literary history of ecofeminism. For centuries,Emily Dickinson's poems have been invariably attracting the public's concern widely, and the advocacy of the feminism is also conceived as the focal research-object home and abroad.Nevertheless, the binding of nature and the feminism incorporated in the thesis is few and far. Therefore, based on the theory of Eco-feminism,the analysis of this thesis not only makes a breakthrough, but also adds brilliance to the enhancement of female status in the 21st century.Above all,it's of great significance to analyze Emily Dickinson's poems from the new perspective. The thesis tries to combine ecocriticism and feminism with the scan of the relationship between women and nature through the dual perspectives of environment and sexuality to dig out the consciousness of eco-feminism from Dickinson's poems so that readers are able to have a clearer understanding of the poems.
