A Contrastive Study Of Linguistic Between Chinese And Thai Verbal Humor

Verbal humor is a special way and the crystallization of human wisdom.It also can make people feel fun and relaxed.Verbal humor and culture are closely related.The different nationalities and cultures will be leads to the Verbal humor interpretation and application different.This thesis attempts to compare two different language stand-up comedy between "Tonight's 80's talk show" and "NOTE UDOM stand-up comedy".Then use the phonetics,vocabulary,syntax,pragmatics,and rhetoric to analyzes Chinese and Thai Verbal Humor.The first chepter of thesis is introduction,which mainly introduce the research background,the research status of Humor and Verbal humor,research significance and purposes,research methods and research innovation.The second chepter of thesis is field of Humor and Verbal humor,which mainly introduce humor of definition,the three traditions of modern humor theory(Superiority Theory,Release Theory,Incongruity Theory)and Semantic Script Theory of Humor.At the same time,introduce the function of humor such as release function,communication function,education function and healing function.The third chepter of thesis is the formation Mechanism of Chinese and Thai Verbal humor,which mainly analysis of the production of Chinese and Thai verbal humor which focus from phonetics,vocabulary,syntax,pragmatics rhetoric and paralanguageThe fourth chepter of thesis is A Comparative Analysis of Chinese and Thai Verbal humor,which mainly the same and different of Chinese and Thai verbal humor(techniques applied in verbal humor,topic of verbal humor and joking target).Then,analyzes causes of differences between Chinese and Thai verbal humor(thinking patterns,religious beliefs,politics and society).The fifth chepter of thesis is the summary,which mainly analysis of mechanism of Chinese and Thai Verbal humor,topic of verbal humor,joking target,causes of differences between Chinese and Thai verbal humor and the insufficiency of this thesis and the direction of the future work.
