With the rapid development of domestic economy and globalization,business agreement plays a very important role in regularizing the market order,and has become a significant legal basis for Chinese and foreign parties to do business and safeguard their rights and interests.Business agreement is a common legal text with strong professionalism.Its strict wording,complex syntax and rigorous logic require high professional competence from translators.Correct comprehension of the text type,language characteristics and syntactic structure of the agreement is the key to accurate translation of business agreements.Precise translation of business agreements is conducive to smooth development of foreign trade activities.The author translated Apple Developer Program License Agreement into Chinese when she worked as an intern in Jingcheng Science and Technology Limited Company and this report is based on the translation practice.The author carefully analyzed and summarized the text characteristics of Apple Developer Program License Agreement before translation.Apple Developer Program License Agreement is a legal text characterized by standardized structure and clear organization.Facts in the agreement are stated plainly and directly to clarify the rights and obligations of both parties.In terms of vocabulary,professional terms and archaic words are often used,and those words have the characteristics of accuracy,standardization and rigor.Syntactically,long complex sentences and sentences in passive voice frequently appear in it.In the process of translating Apple Developer Program License Agreement,the author encountered some difficulties,such as the translation of professional terms,archaic words,long complex sentences and sentences in passive voice.After careful analyses of the source text and comprehensive study of parallel texts,the author adopted some translation techniques under the guidance of Skopos Theory and overcame the difficulties in translation.When translating technical terms and archaic words in the agreement,the author mainly referred to some authoritative materials and websites,carefully studied the context and asked for professionals' advice.In translation of long complex sentences and sentences in passive voice,the authormainly adopted the translation techniques of division and transfer.After completing the project,the author summarized and reflected on the translation practice.She also raised some suggestions for MTI students.The author believes that good translation quality is based on full preparations before translation,serious translation attitude as well as careful proofreading throughout the translation process.In addition,an appropriate theory can guide the translator to find ways to overcome the difficulties in the translation process.The author hopes that this report can provide some reference for MTI students in their future translation of business agreements and similar texts.
