In the traditional English class,a number of senior high school students feel they are always out of place in reading procedures,when the text is easy,students can be patient to read,vice versa.Meanwhile,lots of students reflect that teachers always program repetitive teaching process every day in the process of English reading classroom which can not stimulate students' interest and enthusiasm in reading;much of the time,teachers plan their lessons to finish their reading teaching according to the procedures like pre-reading,skimming,scanning,careful reading,discussion,summary,homework and so on.Of course,in the middle of lesson,they will arrange part of students' interactions which make the atmosphere in the classroom look active and alive.However,it is still a teacher-centered classroom in which students accept knowledge passively.The final result is that the lesson is inefficient and students have a single mode of thinking and also they cannot transfer and apply what they have learned which finally leads to low marks in English reading comprehension in the exam.In addition,except learning the textbook and finishing all kinds of exercises in reference books,students completely have no interest in extracurricular English reading;Furthermore,less reading results in less vocabulary,less information and more difficulties in learning English which eventually make students have no confidence in their English learning and also make them be tired and afraid of learning English.So It is a big problem we have to face about how to stimulate students' interest in learning,develop students' reading habits and abilities in English reading classroom.In view of this problem,The purpose of this paper is to explore and reflect on the guidance and influence of constructivist learning theory on English reading teaching through theoretical research,case study,observation and analysis of reality,questionnaire and so on.In this paper,we find that teachers in the teaching of English reading have not done a good job of sorting out the text information of reading materials;what's more,Students' subjectivity is not fully considered in English reading teaching,and Students are not sure that reading and language learning complement with each other in language learning;in addition,Students cannot combine text information,vocabulary language,thinking and so on,and can not highlight and expand the comprehensive vision in reading.Therefore,teachers should comb the text information in the process of teaching and give full play to the students' initiative.Meanwhile,Teachers should grasp the"degree" of language teaching so that students can improve their thinking ability in the process of reading.Furthermore,students must pay attention to the training and promotion of comprehensive skills in the process of reading.Finally,the study finds that constructivist learning theory promotes the current English reading teaching,but it also has some problems.First,the use of constructivist learning theory to guide English reading teaching should be combined with the actual situation of local schools and classes,which also can not be divorced from reality and is constructed for the sake of construction.In the process of reading,we should combine the text information,proceed from the students' reality,take the students as the main body to construct knowledge and cultivate the students' ability and thinking of constructing knowledge;Second,in the teaching of reading,constructivist learning theory is still in a process of continuous improvement and development,it is bound to encounter some obstacles,Teachers should make adequate psychological preparation in the process of implementation;Thirdly,constructivist learning theory has great application space in teaching application.Teachers should treat this teaching theory with a positive attitude and vision and also they need to combine it with the actual situation and construct a teaching method suitable for themselves and their students.
