In recent years,with the continuous improvement of China's international status,the world has paid more and more attention to China and its culture.As Chinese,we have the responsibility and obligation to spread Chinese culture to the world.Therefore,in order to carry forward Chinese traditional culture and achieve cross-cultural communication,it's necessary for us to have a certain ability to express Chinese culture in English.However,British and American culture teaching still dominates in the non-professional English teaching of universities.The errors in the orientation of English teaching concepts,the serious lack of Chinese cultural content in textbooks,and the lack of Chinese teachers' own cultural qualities have led to students' low level of expression of Chinese culture in English.This not only affects the effective cross-cultural communication,but also affects the effective dissemination of traditional Chinese culture.This article takes the expression of Chinese culture in English as the entry point.it investigates and analyzes the expression of Chinese culture in English in college English teaching,based on the four theories of cross-cultural communication theory,teaching process optimization theory,cultural input and output theory,and socio-cultural theory.The first part of this study is the introduction,which briefly introduces the research background,literature review,research methods and research significance.Besides,in the second part of the research,the core concepts of "culture","English teaching","the expression of Chinese culture in English ",and "China English" are defined and the four theoretical foundations of the study are introduced.The third part investigates the current situation of non-professional English teaching.and conducts a survey on the current status ofnon-English-speaking college students in the test of Chinese cultural English proficiency.And,combining with interviews with experts,university English teachers,and overseas students,this study further explores the underlying causes of the problem of the expression of Chinese cultural in English.It comes to the conclusion: students' low level of expression of Chinese culture in English.The fourth part concludes that the English teaching concept is not clear,the lack of authoritative Chinese culture English expression language materials,the English teacher's teaching method lag and so on.based on the actual situation of college non-professional English Chinese culture expression teaching,combined with the actual needs of students,in the fifth part puts forward the feasible suggestions about Improve the content of the textbook and optimize the curriculum structure,the construction of China English corpus,etc,to improve non-professional English and Chinese cultural English teaching in universities.Through the investigation and analysis of the status quo of non-professional English and Chinese cultural English teaching in universities,The study can help non-professional English students to increase their awareness of Chinese culture,improve their cultural qualities,and cultivate their ability to express Chinese culture in English.It is of great practical significance to carry out cross-cultural communication and to carry forward Chinese traditional culture.
