Washback Effect Of PRETCO On English Teaching

At present,the training objectives of vocational colleges in China are mainly practical,however,there are difficulties in English Teaching in vocational colleges,and students are lack of English application ability.PRETCO as a national college students' English proficiency test can objectively reflect the students' true English level,but the PRETCO examination rate of vocational colleges in Chizhou is low,so it is urgent to find countermeasures.On the basis of the 15 hypothesis theory of Alderson & Wa11 Washback,this study randomly selected 2 Chizhou colleges 200 occupation college students and 20 English teachers as the research object,starting from the teachers and students of PRETCO on the aspects of knowledge,through questionnaires and observations,to obtain valid data and information analysis.The results show that PRECTCO test has positive backwash effect and negative backwash effect on english teaching in vocational colleges in Chizhou,and its positive backwash effect is greater than negative backwash effect.The positive washback effect of PRECTC test on teachers is in providing teaching feedback and arousing the enthusiasm of teaching;the negative backwash effect is increasing in teaching progress and so on.The positive washback effect on students is to correct their learning attitude,enhance their learning motivation and increase their interest in learning,while negative backwash effect hinders the subsequent learning and influences the motivation of learning.In addition,this paper further explores the backwash effect of PRECTC test on teachers,students and managers of vocational colleges,and provides guidance for the improvement of english teaching in vocational colleges in Chizhou.
