On The Political Dimension Of Xunzi's Rule Of Rites

Xunzi was an outstanding thinker in the Warring States Period.His philosophical system was comprehensive in nature and had the characteristics of a hundred schools of thought.Xunzi's thoughts are mainly preserved in 32 articles of the book ' Xunzi''."Rite" is an important category in the history of China's political and ideological history.Xunzi is a thinker who has made important contributions to etiquette.This paper studies the political philosophy contained in Xunzi's "rule by rites" theory,which has important theoretical value and practical significance.Xunzi established a profound philosophy system of etiquette on the basis of inheriting and synthesizing the thoughts of various etiquette schools in the pre-Qin period.His theory of propriety has always centered on the central category of "propriety and righteousness".Etiquette begins with "governing".At the same time,"governing" and "disorder" are closely related.It can be said that Xunzi's theory of propriety started from the order and law of propriety to govern the "disorderly" social order,thus constructing the governing principles and order system of human beings themselves,human beings and nature,human beings and society,and even the universe.Xunzi formed an important part of his philosophy building with his unique thought of etiquette and governance,and established an important position in his thought of etiquette in the pre-Qin Dynasty.Political philosophy is a theory that discusses political affairs from a philosophical perspective.It is based on a certain political society and includes two dimensions of political subject and political ideal.It focuses on the distribution mode of political power and explores the ideal political life desired by a certain group of people based on values such as kindness,justice and order.The political philosophy in Xunzi's theory of etiquette and governance discussed in this paper will be mainly discussed from two aspects of "political ideal" and "political subject".Finally,it discusses Xunzi's profound influence on the practice of social and political philosophy in ancient China.
