Uncommon Interests

The connection between humans and animals is inextricably linked,and primitive murals with animal figures appear in the caves of the late Paleolithic period.As one of the representative animals,cats have been integrated into human life thousands of years ago.In Western society,the identity of cats is bizarre,and in China,with its many legends,it has its unique and mysterious status.People from different periods have given cats different symbolic meanings.Nowadays cats have been integrated into our lives as pets,and more artists have used cats as a source of inspiration for their creations.This creation report takes the cat’s living state in human society as the starting point.The author uses watercolor as a medium to express the cat’s personality characteristics,thus pursuing the aesthetic understanding and aesthetic emotion of personality.During the creation period,I widely studied with artists.I hope that when I analyze and study their cat-themed works,I can find the painting language that suits me best.This thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces the reasons for the selection of creationmaterials.The second chapter aims to analyze the origins of cats and paintings and analyze and learn the artists of related subjects and styles,thus inspiring their own creations.The third chapter describes in detail the creative process of the series of "Intelligence".Including the collection of materials and the performance of the picture atmosphere.The fourth chapter mainly elaborates on the thinking and summary after creation,as well as the author’s thinking about the symbolic and interesting aspects of the painting.Through this creation,the author feels that taste is not an objective existence.It is an emotional state.Different people see different things and discover different tastes.Cats are not just a pet or a hunting expert,the artists will give the cat a symbol of this or that.A symbolic cat is a true and secretive conveyance of the artist’s innermost heart,or a reflection of the real world.
