Genling Yan is the immigrant from mainland China,and Maxine Hong Kingston and Amy Tan are American-born natives.Although there of them are concerned about the survival predicament of Chinese American women,their different identities lead the discrepancy of reflections behind their stories.Geling Yan,Maxine Hong Kingston and Amy Tan depicted Chinese American women's stories in different ages,and presented their different reflections about how Chinese American women could get rid of the dilemma of both racism and sexism.In this thesis,I will apply the postcolonial theory and feminism to the analysis of Yan,Kingston and Tan's novels.What is more,I will explore the feminism behind the different images of silent women in their novels in the context of Chinese American history.
