| Throughout the development of contemporary management disciplines in China, modern scholars have introduced a large number of western management books to assist teaching. As for the particular purpose of those books,it is especially important for the translator to ensure the translation quality of such texts during the process of translation. The practice report selected Len Sperry’s Effective Leadership: Strategies for Maximizing Executive Productivity and Health, which was designed to provide some strategies about how companies and individuals improve leadership effectiveness in terms of both productivity and health,as the translation practice text.Through text analysis, the source text belongs to the informative one whose main purpose is to convey information and whose features are realism, objectivity and normalization. Therefore, this report selected Skopos theory as the theoretical guidance.According to the three rules of Skopos theory, various translation techniques were applied in the translation at lexical, syntactic and discourse levels, such as omission, amplification, conversion, division and so on.Under the guidance of this method, the translation is more in line with the characteristics of the source text, achieving the communicative purpose. The following conclusions can be drawn: First,in view of the particular communicative purpose of the source text, the translator should not only take target readers’ feelings into consideration, but ensure the translation accurate.Second, for any translation activities, the first factor for the translator to consider is to define the practical and communicative purposes and then, different translation techniques should be selected according to the characteristics of the text so as to assist the translator with the smooth completion of the translation activities.Figure 0;Table 0;Reference 27... |
