Marx’s ‘Critique of the Gotha Program’ was written more than 100 years ago.It is an important scientific socialist theoretical work in the late stage of Marx, but the ethical thoughts of Marx embodied in it are still shining. On the one hand,Marx’s ethical thought has its own characteristics. This feature is mainly reflected in his liberation of human beings and the all-round development of human freedom as a value theme, rather than proceeding from the illusory human nature presupposition to carry out ethical and moral construction. On the other hand, the Critique of the Gotha Program directly involves many moral categories, such as labor, equality, and distributive justice.Of course,Marx’s elucidation of these propositions is not always based on the existence and development of suspended human beings as bourgeois thinkers of the same era,but is linked with the fundamental problem of human existence and development. From Marx’s exposition,we can see that Criticism of the Gotha Program focuses on Marx’s understanding of the development of social politics and morality from the basic economic relations of society, conforms to Marx’s consistent academic research ideas, and reflects the integrity and continuity of Marx’s ethical thought. At the same time,Marx’s exposition of the concept of labor ethics in Criticism of the Gotha Program enlightens modern people how to realize their own development through free labor in the process of drastic social development, and Marx’s exposition of the ethical concepts of equality and distribution, which provides guidance for the justice of unbalanced development in modern society. That is to provide a theoretical support for the realization of a happy and happy life for human beings and the construction of a community of human destiny, thus ultimately achieving the free and all-round development of everyone.
