Empathy, originated from the research on aesthetics of German scholars, originally means the penetration of emotions. In this thesis, the study of pragmatic empathy of teachers' discourse aims to explore how teachers use micro languages which are popular among students to organize teaching forms,so as to make teachers and students emotionally compatible and produce a positive interaction, with the expectation of effectively transferring teaching information, better achieving teaching goals, and improving teaching quality.Teachers' discourse is an important expression form of their knowledge reserve and skill accumulation,a key window to demonstrate the overall quality of teachers,as well as the core element in the teaching process, involving every aspect of teaching activities, which directly affects students' information input,so it is of profound significance to study the pragmatic empathy of teachers' discourse. As a form of network languages,micro-language,for its concise, explicit and intuitive images,is gradually accepted and loved by netizens, especially by the students who are called “aborigines” in the Internet era. However, after making a general survey of the relevant researches of academic circles over these years,it is found that few people have adopted the concept of micro-language into teachers' discourse. So this thesis attempts to probe into the following three issues:First,is micro-language helpful for solving the problems in current teachers' discourse?Second, what principles and modes should be obeyed by teachers when using micro languages to organize their teaching?Third, what are the functions and effects of teachers' using micro languages to organize their teaching? The core view of Verschueren's Adaptation Theory is used to conduct this discussion, and the micro languages applied by teachers in the teaching process are selected at random as the research corpus. The quantitative and qualitative research methods are adopted to explore the phenomenon and effects of pragmatic empathy. Then come the following conclusions:Firstly,it is obvious that there are some quality and quantity problems in current teachers' discourse and so its effects and clarity needs to be improved. The micro-language is feasible to be used as one of the effective tools to organize teaching.Secondly, after the analysis of micro-language corpus, including personal deixis, mood words, and vague languages, etc.,it is found that in teaching process the empathy index of teachers' using micro languages to transfer information directly affects the teaching efficiency. That is,the higher the empathy index is,the closer the psychological distance between teachers and students becomes and the better the teaching efficiency will be.Thirdly, after the analysis of the socio-pragmatic corpus,it shows that as long as teachers make full use of pragmatic empathy strategy, conforming to the students' physical world, psychological world and social world in the process of applying micro languagess, smooth information communication and emotional interaction between teachers and students can be realized without hindrance. These research findings just offer a little reference to inspire students' desire for knowledge so as to create a better teaching atmosphere and meanwhile the thesis is hoped to lay a foundation for making further study in the future on the “mystical power” of micro languages in teaching process.
