Harry Potter series was well received since it was published,and thus the author J.K.Rowling won numerous prizes,such as the National Book Award for Children's Novel.Harry Potter series builds a complete magical wonderland parallel to the real world.As Harry Potter grew,his battle with the Big Devil Voldemort was more intense.Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,as the fifth volume of the series,became the turning point for Harry Potter and Voldemort to face the direct battle.The whole story is full of ups and downs with humorous language,and the description of the magical world of teenagers reflects the real world,fascinating and thought-provoking.In the past 20 years,Harry Potter has been a popular research object for both domestic and foreign researchers in various areas.Due to its global effect,their researches mainly focused on children's literature,narrative structure,teenagers' growth,film adaptation,language translation,specific imagery,etc.,but few scholars studied from the perspective of feminism,especially ecofeminism.Based on previous studies,this thesis attempts to analyze Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in three aspects of the theory of ecofeminism: the value of female and nature,the commonality between women and nature and the oppression on women and nature from a patriarchal society and their resistance.This thesis consists of five parts.The first chapter is an introduction,which includes the research background,research significance,research questions and thesis framework.The second part is a literature review that introduces previous researches on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,the author,and ecofeminism.The third part introduces the theoretical framework of ecofeminism,including its origin,development,core issues,and genre branches.The fourth part is the core of the thesis,and the novel is analyzed in detail through ecofeminism theory.The last part is the conclusion of the thesis,concluding research questions,re-stating the significance of the research,and enumerating the shortcomings of the thesis and the prospects for future research.
