| The translator has selected the Chapter 2 and 3 of the book Sharing-Culture and the Economy in the Internet Age for the translation task, aiming at practicing with one of the hot topics which account for a large proportion of the translation market. In the process of translation, the translator has encountered some problems, such as translationese, sentences with parenthesis, inanimate sentences, among which translationese is the major problem that attracts the translator’s attention. Therefore, the translator tries to draw upon the Functional Equivalence Theory to provide guidance for her selection of translation principle, and attempts to reduce translationese to the minimum as it may damage the professional image of a translator.Inspired by the functional equivalence theory, the translationese problem has been analyzed at lexical level, syntactic level and textual level,so that the translator can identify the problem easily, and get improvement from self-reflection.Other minor problems have also been tackled under the guidance of the principles of dynamic equivalence. The translator has gained much from this translation practice;she had a deep and systematic understanding of the translation problem of translationese and its relevant solutions, and also grasped more adept translation skills to work with other translation problems such as sentences with inanimate subjects and parenthesis.Bearing the responses of readers in mind, the translator understands that she needs to change her habit of always following strictly the linguistic forms and to produce a more functional equivalent text. |
