A Study Of Humorous Internet Buzzwords

As the most active language element,internet buzzwords' status and function in Chinese language should never be overlooked.On the one hand,one of the biggest features of internet context is jocosity,which is manifested as the frequent use of humorous discourse.On the other hand,internet context itself is an important hotbed for the production of humorous discourse,so whether in the study of internet buzzwords or in the study of humor,humorous internet buzzwords has very important research value.This paper takes humorous internet buzzwords as the research object,and collects the main part of the internet buzzwords which were used between 2008 and 2018,and selects the ones that can form humors based on specific usages.In the perspective of the way they were formed,we classified them into three categories with the standard of their pronunciations?spellings and meanings.On base of this,we analyzed the way in which they form humors,thus finding the relevant factors that influence the production of this kind of humor.In this way it managed to find some general factors which matter a lot in most of the production of this kind of humor,which includes the basic tone of internet which appears as banter,the pragmatic intentionality of the speaker,the pragmatic signal which is sent out by unusual discourse,shared information of both speakers,the contrast between the discourse and the fact,the funny feature of some special discourse materials,the clever way of processing discourse,and the use of typical cases.Through this the paper managed to conclude the generative mechanism of its humor,namely as follows:Under the main context of internet which is characterized as jocosity,both speakers intentionally use unusual discourse which is known by the other one and is largely different from the fact,in this way they send out a pragmatic signal.When the listener heard this unusual discourse,they get some psychological discrepancy in their inside world because of the difference between the discourse and the fact.With the knowledge that they are under the jocosity context and the pragmatic signal,this psychological discrepancy will finally turn out as simmer with laughter,that is to say,here the humor comes into being.On base of this,this paper also discussed the pragmatic strategies and the pragmatic tips of this kind of buzzwords.With the help of the general factors that have been concluded above,we found the key parameters of its humor,which includes the main context?the pragmatic intentionality?shared information,together with the choose and the process of discourse materials.We also pointed out the specific ways and attentions that we should know when using this kind of buzzwords.Moreover,as a study of buzzwords,this paper analyzed its functions and influences in linguistic life,and mentioned the linguistical and social problems caused by them,which involved the gap in the communication between different generations?the lack of language expressions?the non-vulgarization of abusive languages,etc.Also,we proposed some solutions accordingly.Meanwhile,in the perspective of historical materialism?the evolutions of vocabulary and the linguistic system itself,this paper analyzed the the feature that the advantages and disadvantages of this kind of buzzwords are both highlighted,so a comprehensive and objective attitude should be emphasized towards them,that is to say,we should do more study on the superior parts to bring their value into full play,and debunk the real feature of the inferior parts,thus clear the language dregs out of the language system as soon as possible.In the end,we proposed the solutions to these problems caused by internet buzzwords on personal level and national level: on personal level,the essential part is to establish correct language views,and learn to distinguish the truly vivid innovational expressions from those unhealthy linguistic materials,demonstrate the superior elements and prevent the inferior elements,thus protect the healthy development of linguistic system;while on national level,we need to do language planning and governance towards internet language promptly.
