A Probe Into Popper's Methodology Of Historical Philosophy

KarlPopper's philosophy of history plays an important role in his philosophical exploration.The premise of his historical philosophy is the methodology of historical philosophy he used in the field of history.In the past,the academic research on Popper's historical philosophy was generally focused on his criticism and counter-criticism of historicism,and the research on methodology was mainly the methodology of natural science,while the research on historical philosophy methodology was relatively less.In fact,Popper's historical philosophy methodology is an extension of his natural science methodology.In Popper's whole philosophy thought,the historical philosophy methodology and the natural science methodology have the same important status.Popper was able to get such a great academic reputation,and he also argues that the history of philosophy methodology has a direct relationship,because of Popper's historical philosophy methodology thought mainly concentrated in the "The Poverty of Historicism","The Open Society and Its Enemies","Objective Knowledge: an Evolutionary Approach","Conjectures and Refutations" and so on several important book,it was also the first two books,the advent of Popper in the academic world fame.This paper is divided into four parts to discuss Popper's historical philosophy methodology.The first part firstly discusses the reasons,forming process and main contents of Popper's historical philosophy.Through understanding Popper's historical background and personal situation,as well as his ideology and political stand,and combining his own knowledge structure and philosophical basis,it is concluded that "falsificationism" theory is the theoretical basis of Popper's historical philosophy method.It also discusses three key points of the falsificationism theory: the negation of induction,the demarcation of science and the trial and error method in the theory of conjecture and refutation.The second part mainly discusses the basic strategy of Popper's historical philosophy methodology.By analyzing Popper's criticism of historical determinism,this paper explores Popper's strategy of refuting methodology with methodology,including his criticism of pronaturalistic determinism and anti-naturalistic determinism,essentialist method and holistic method.The third part focuses on the main content of Popper's historical philosophy methodology.They include the "situation analysis" derived from the field of economics and Popper's "progressive technique".The essence and connotation of the two methods and the characteristics of the two methods are analyzed.The fourth part is the evaluation of Popper's historical philosophy methodology.This paper mainly uses dichotomy to evaluate and analyze the influence of his historical philosophy methodology from both positive and negative aspects.The positive contribution of Popper's historical philosophy methodology in world historical philosophy is affirmed,and the internal contradictions and unreasonable factors of Popper's historical philosophy methodology are put forward objectively.
