In recent years,with the rapid development of higher vocational education in China,the construction of teachers team has gradually become the key and core of improving vocational education.Teachers' own professional quality and development level directly determine the teaching quality.It is of great significance to pay attention to the professional development of English teachers in higher vocational colleges who take on the important task of cultivating English talents with professional skills for the society.This study selected four vocational colleges and seven English teachers as the object of case study.By presenting teachers' personal experiences in daily life and teaching life,this paper reveals the existing state of English teachers in higher vocational colleges,and explores the professional development and existing problems of teachers in the novice,intermediate and high-level stages.Through interviews,collecting texts,etc.,we can understand the life history stories of teachers,and interpret them from the perspective of teachers' professional development,presenting the experiences and sentiments of teachers in daily and teaching life,and revealing the living conditions of current English teachers in higher vocational colleges.Deep understanding and excavation of the deep development law under the appearance of stories.At the same time,qualitative analysis software NVivo12 Plus is used to analyze teacher professional development and its influencing factors from three dimensions of professional knowledge,ability and emotion,so as to explore the existing problems of teacher professional development in novice,intermediate and high-level stages and clarify the path of teacher professional development.The study found that teachers fail to get enough support when the national policies are blocked.Second,the particularity of vocational colleges leads to the poor connection between English courses and professional courses,and it is difficult for teachers to master the talent cultivation skills specifically for students in vocational colleges.Third,the assessment and evaluation mechanism is not perfect,there is no evaluation system for teachers in higher vocational colleges.Fourth,the current English teachers in higher vocational colleges have no discourse right,lack of sense of teaching achievement and their own development momentum.In view of this situation,the author believes that higher vocational colleges need to complete the teacher training policy and teacher evaluation mechanism,pay attention to the growth of English teachers,give teachers more opportunities.Setting English courses that are deeply integrated with professional courses will help teachers lay an English foundation for higher vocational students to achieve their employment goals.At the same time,teachers' self-consciousness is the key,vocational English teachers should establish a positive professional development concept,and promote their professional development with the support of society and schools.
