In China,the classroom is the main place for students to learn English,and the classroom assessment of English teachers is of vital importance to students.However,the research on classroom assessment of English teachers is still insufficient.This study investigated the classroom assessment literacy of junior middle school English teachers through questionnaire survey and interview,and tried to answer the follow questions: 1.What is the status quo of classroom assessment literacy of English teachers in junior middle school? 2.What factors influence classroom assessment literacy of junior middle school English teachers? Sixty middle school English teachers in Xi 'an,Shaanxi province participated in the study.Quantitative data were collected through completing the "Middle School English Teachers' Classroom Assessment Literacy Questionnaire".Qualitative data were collected through the interview.Through the analysis of data,the research conclusions are as follows: 1.The overall level of English teachers' classroom assessment literacy is at a medium level,and their concept of classroom assessment is not enough.Meanwhile,they lack the knowledge of classroom assessment and can't apply the skills of classroom assessment expertly;2.According to the single-factor ANOVA,significant differences exist in classroom assessment literacy of English teachers in different ages,educational backgrounds,genders and teaching years;3.The lack of classroom assessment can be attributed not only to the personal factors of teachers,but also to the society,schools and other factors.The results of this study show that the classroom assessment concept of junior middle school English teachers needs to be strengthened,and the classroomassessment knowledge and classroom assessment skills need to be improved.Based on the research results,this study puts forward some suggestions for the improvement of classroom assessment literacy of English teachers in junior middle schools.It emphasizes the need to develop relevant training courses.
