Crossroads: 2000 Years on the Silk Road is the first Sino-foreign co-production documentary under the theme of "The Silk Road Economic Belt".It is a practice on the "Belt and Road" initiative in the form of movies and televisions,which closely echoes the theme of our times.It has disseminated widely and received much attention.In this thesis,the documentary Crossroads is taken as the research object.Under the guidance of narrative theory,it analyzes the narrative theme,narrative discourse,narrative purpose and narrative background of the documentary.This thesis tries to explore the role of the documentary in the construction of China's national image,the dissemination of Chinese culture and the spirit of Silk Road.This thesis tries to analyze the documentary Crossroads: 2000 Years on the Silk Road on four levels.Firstly,the article mainly analyzes the narrative theme and narrative subject of the documentary.On the basis of the textural analysis,this thesis illuminates that the documentary generally focuses on the belt and road initiative with four specific narrative themes,which are facility connection of mutual benefit,free trade for a common future,cultural integration and people's linkage by hearts.Then,the two narrative symbols of the documentary and the visual image are analyzed.Through the research,it is believed that the documentary mainly presents the following narrative discourse features,which are searching for cultural memory and emotional acknowledgement,achieving economic rejuvenation and cultural renascence,rebuilding the national image and pursuing a win-win situation.In the end,this thesis summarizes the narrative features of the documentary and analyses the narrative background from three aspects.The documentary illustrates Chinese stories through video language.Besides,it provides a new,dynamic perspective for the conveying of the voice of China,the image of China,and the understanding and promotion of this initiative as wellmodern Silk Road spirit.
