Writing is an important part of language competence.It embodies the ability of language expression and cross-cultural communication,and plays an important role in English learning.In the process of practice,writing teaching is the most neglected part by teachers easily through classroom observation and listening records.The traditional teaching method adopted by teachers in the process of writing teaching neglects students' writing skills.It cannot effectively improve students' writing level and lead to the loss of students' interest and confidence in writing.In order to solve these problems,this paper will introduce genre-based teaching approach for senior high school English writing teaching.And it focuses on its specific steps and the effect of its application.In the course of the experiment,the teacher teaches narrative,expository,argumentative and applied writing.The experimental class uses genre-based teaching approach and the control class uses process teaching approach.Following are the research questions:Can genre-based teaching approach improve students' writing ability?This teaching experiment lasts for four months.And it uses the experimental method,and takes the test paper as the main research tool.The purpose of the test is to test whether there is a significant difference in writing proficiency between the experimental class and the control class before and after the experiment.For the experimental data,SPSS 17.0 was used for analysis and comparison.It is found that genre-based teaching approach can improve students' writing scores better than process approach,and improve students' writing ability in terms of vocabulary,grammar,content,cohesion and textual structure.Therefore,it is necessary to introduce genre-based teaching approach into senior high school English writing teaching.
