C-E translation has a lot to do with English writing as both need to consider word choice and sentence making in English.Writing guidelines can help translators to produce better translation. The thesis is based on the Chinese-English translation of First-Class Initiative Documents. After analyzing the draft translations and revised ones, the author summarizes some principles that the native English speaker uses to revise draft translations, and finds that these principles follow writing guidelines, mainly in clarity, cohesion and coherence, and conciseness. The author intends to explore how writing guidelines can help translators improve their translations in these three aspects. In the end,the author concludes that writing guidelines can help translators produce clear, coherent and concise English, thus making translations easier for readers to understand.
