Peach Blossom Fan,as a relatively high-ranking work in the history of Chinese and foreign operas,has long been widely concerned by researchers at home and abroad.Among this,Li Xiangjun-the famous prostitute in Qinhuai—is unique in the female images of Chinese classical opera because of her firm political stance and tenacious fighting spirit,and has become a hot spot in cross-cultural researchBy consulting and sorting out relevant literature at home and abroad,the author believes that the domestic research on Li Xiangjun's literary image still has the value of further exploration and sorting.The study of Li Xiangjun in the English-speaking world also needs the cross-cultural perspective,and contrast with domestic research,excavate the cultural factors behind it,and finally return to its own context to examine the overseas spread of Chinese opera.In view of this,this thesis is based on the important research works on Peach Blossom Fan and Li Xiangjun's image at home and abroad.It adopts methods such as document sorting,text reading and cultural comparison to carry out the research of Li Xiangjun's literary image under the cross-cultural perspective.The first chapter summarizes the research status of Li Xiangjun in the domestic academia and the English-speaking world by clarifying relevant literature at home and abroad,and clarifies the significance of the topic.The second chapter focuses on the study of Li Xiangjun's literary image in the domestic academic circle,and starts a special discussion from the levels of tragedy connotation,Hou Li's love tragedy,patriotism and female consciousness.First,through the analysis of the tragedy connotation of Peach Blossom Fan and Hou Li's love tragedy,we can see that Li Xiangjun's tragic fate actually reflects the author Kong Shangren 's tragic consciousness.Li Xiangjun's tragedy image enriches the tragedy of female characters in the legend of Ming and Qing Dynasties Connotation.Secondly,by comparing the different performances of Hou and Li in key plots such as Que Lian,Li Xiangjun's noble patriotism and tenacious fighting spirit can be demonstrated.Third,Li Xiangjun is eagerly pursuing free love,striving to realize the self-worth of women,and reflects a strong consciousness of female consciousness.The third chapter focuses on the study of Li Xiangjun's literary image in the English-speaking world,and selects representative works of foreign scholars for classification.In terms of theatrical performance and historical reality,Stephen Owen,Shen Jing and Lailin Ho focused on Li Xiangjun's role,the disparity between Li Xiangjun and Du Liniang,and how the peach blossom fan shaped Li Xiangjun's image.They demonstrate the sense of authenticity and fragmentation of historical reality.At the level of identity and intersexuality,Tina Lu believes that images such as paintings and peach blossom blood fan play a vital role in Li Xiangjun self-shaping.Zuyan Zhou uses the theory of intersexuality to explain Li Xiangjun's masculinity and gender dislocation.At the level of gender writing and female destiny,Wai-yee Li believes that Li Xiangjun's dramatic presentation of the identity of a prostitute is a way for the male literati represented by Kong Shangren to prove their own conduct during the turmoil.Li Xiangjun's personal encounter is essentially the epitome of the late Ming national crisis and moral crisis.The fourth chapter analyzes the research characteristics of the domestic academia and the English-speaking world,and starts the study of Li Xiangjun's literary image from a cross-cultural perspective in terms of interoperability and heterogeneity.First of all,the domestic academic research presents abundance,periodic,and politics,while the research in the English-speaking world is characterized by novel perspectives,emphasis on mutual proof of essays and history,and emphasis on gender studies.Secondly,in the overall evaluation of Li Xiangjun's image and the specific research methods such as comparison of characters,careful reading of texts,and knowledge of the world,there is universal interoperability between the domestic academic community and the English-speaking world.Thirdly,due to the multiple influences of different ideologies,social backgrounds and cultural trends in China and the West,the cross-cultural study of Li Xiangjun's image also presents a certain degree of heterogeneity at the level of ideological consciousness and gender consciousness.This is mainly reflected in the difference between home country justice and individualism,conservative gender consciousness and intersex consciousness.Finally,the author believes that in future research,it is necessary to not only deepen the study of the domestic academic community,but also dialectically view the research methods and research results of the English-speaking world,and provide some new perspectives for the in-depth development of Peach Blossom Fan research,as well as Chinese opera literature going out.
