| Alongside increasing cases of constant cooperation and communication between China and Russia,teaching Chinese in Russia also had entered a new era,the number of Chinese learners in Russia exceeded the number of 20th century’s Chinese learners.Over the last 20 years,the number of Chinese teaching materials has increased rapidly and spread to the Russian market on par with exponential growth of Chinese learners in Russia comparing to the 20th century.However,"Practical Course in Chinese",a textbook which is written more than 30 years ago,is still the most widely used textbook all over the country.This research relies on the author’s own experience using "Practical Course in Chinese" to learn and teach Chinese at Moscow State University and,therefore,questions the effectiveness of "Practical Course in Chinese"both for teachers and students.In view of this,this study is aimed at investigation practicability,focalization,systematicness,timeliness and other factors of the comprehensive course in Chinese mentioned above.This study examines the concept of "Practical course in Chinese" and is based on researches of Chinese and Russian foreign studies experts in compiling and evaluating Chinese textbooks.The author,in reliance on a conducted survey,including interviews with teachers and students,analyzes five modules of "Practical Course in Chinese",including phonetics,text and vocabulary,grammar,exercises and cultural knowledge.Based on analysis of collected and summarized data,this research comes up with improving proposals for the next compilation of Russian local Chinese textbooks in order to provide Russian students with better learning opportunities.This research consists of six chapters.The first one is the introduction that explains the reason of the investigation and its significant role in the development of Chinese education sector in Russia.It combines research literature about the concept of foreign language textbook compiling in Russia and its principles,evaluating and analysis of China and Russia textbook compiling.The second chapter compares "Practical Chinese Reader"and "Practical Course in Chinese" and distinguishes characteristics of the Russian Chinese textbook.The third chapter investigates learning demands of Russian students on Chinese textbook content.The author interviews 50 students and analyses data given by "Google Forms" in accordance with five parts of the textbook.The fourth chapter is based on applying interview method to analyze teachers’ evaluation of "Practical Course in Chinese" and collect suggested improving proposals on each module of the textbook.The fifth part is presented through a prism of students’ learning demands,teachers’ experience and author’s personal experience,and is aimed at providing suggestions on Chinese textbook compiling in Russia.It provides useful information about initial consonants and vowels explanation and relevant arrangement,sound format,vocabulary,text content and format,grammar structure,range of exercises and preferences on cultural content etc.The sixth chapter concludes the research and gives a summary of the recommendations for Chinese textbooks compiling in Russia. |
