Motivational regulation is an indispensable part of self-regulated learning.The use of motivational regulation strategies has an influence on the learning process and outcome.The Internet and IT give birth to mobile learning,which opens a new channel for college students' language learning.Some existing researches have looked into the motivational regulation strategies of college students.However,few of them focus on their use of motivational regulation strategies in MALL.This study aims to explore college students' use of motivational regulation strategies in MALL.The research methods involve a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview.Statistics show that the questionnaire is valid and reliable.Six components are extracted through exploratory factor analysis by the means of principal component analysis.Further analysis reveals that the frequency level of total strategy use is slightly above medium level.Some strategies are used more often than others,such as “regulation of mastery”;while some are used less frequently,such as“peer support”.Female students use the strategies more frequently than their male peers.English major students have a higher level of strategy use as oppose to science major students.There is also a significant correlation between college students' CET4 score and their use of motivational regulation strategies.The research shows that there is still room for improvement in terms of college students' motivational regulation strategy use.Such improvement can be conducive to improving their language learning achievement.In the theoretical terms,this research views motivation from a dynamic perspective,which supports the motivation study in a dynamic viewpoint.In practical terms,this study gives a general picture of college students' use of motivational regulation strategies.It informs college students of some useful skills to regulate their motivation in MALL,which may help them with their autonomous language learning.It also provides some inspirations for college English teachers and the designer of MALL platforms.
