Analysis Of The Type Characteristics Of Behind-the-scenes Documentarv Of Chinese Film

Since its emergence in the early 20th century,the documentary has contained various kinds of themes,at the same time,its patterns of manifestation have trended towards diversification.Among them,the emergence of documentary which contains the working process of movies created a new type of documentary--behind-the-scenes documentary of film.In recent years,with the booming Chinese movie industry,the behind-the-scenes documentary has become the marketing standard of publicity and launch of each film,whose type characteristics are more and more obvious.But there are few studies on behind-the-scenes documentary of film.and the application of which is still not standardized.This paper will take the behind-the-scenes documentaries of Chinese films from 2014 to 2018 as main object of study,and discuss from four parts surrounding type characteristics and communicating effects of behind-the-scene documentary of film through analysis of specific cases.The first chapter discusses the characteristics of behind-the-scenes documentary of film on the basis of discussion of the truth of them and along the development process of them.The behind-the-scenes documentary of film is a special video work totally different from behind-the-scenes documentary writings,films and reports.The creation modes of documentary used in the behind-the-scenes documentary of film and divides the behind-the-scenes documentary of film into four types according to the relationship between the documentary and the original film:the’behind-the-scenes production’ documentary which shows the events behind the scene,the’group-follow’ documentary showing the filming process,the ’film creation’ documentary expressing creative ideas of creators,’film theme’ documentary extending the theme of film in accordance with the division mode of documentary patterns put forward by Nichols.The second chapter analyzes the attribute of the docunentary.The truth of documentary is the integration of objectivity and subjectivity.The behind-the-scenes documentary of film objectively records the events happening in the film set,and it is also subjectively affected by the self-expression of subjects and the photographer’s selection of behaviors of subjects.The educational attribute of behind-the-scenes documentary of film is to provide visual reference for video makers.The third chapter analyzes the characteristics of four types of behind-the-scenes documentaries of films one by one according to specific cases.The author analyzes ’the·behind-the-scenes production’ documentary with the documentary Cooing from All over the World for You(2017)of the film Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms with an example,and finds the biggest characteristic of such documentary is ’stressing the present feeling’.The documentary provides a medium for film makers and audience to communicate and evaluate through such a method to directly present film production site,satisfies audience’s curiosity and mixoscopia to film production,star images and so on.And the author takes the documentary Zhang Yimou and His ’Shadow’(2018)of the film Shadow as an example to analyze the ’group-follow’ documentary and finds that it has obvious narrativity,stresses the logical relation of events,expresses the difficulties behind the scenes of film production in the way of telling stories,which can be said as the story behind it.And the author takes the documentary I Dedicate My Youth to You(2017)of the film Youth as an example to analyze the ’film creation’ documentary,whose characteristic is taking the interview of film creators as the main clue,deeply delving the attitudes and ideas of participants behind the film creation through the combination between sound and picture,which is the platform for main creators of the film to express their own artistic views directly.In addition,the author takes the documentary She Recognized the Storm(2014)of the film Golden Age as an example,and finds that the ’film thenle documentary is the extension of the theme of original film in terms of time and space,and narration.The fourth chapter analyzes the current situation of behind-the-scenes documentary of film.There are many difficulties of behind-the-scenes documentary of Chinese film,and there are many prominent problems such as low quality,over dependence on original films and so on.Clearing the type application of behind-the-scenes documentary can find a breakthrough for the production of behind-the-scenes documentary,can provide references for different kinds of film production and behind-the-scenes documentaries by analyzing the type and communication demands of original films.
