The Artistic Expression Of A Theme In Screenwriting

Throughout Chinese and foreign film works,the characters in the film,plot settings,narrative structure,and visual effects all have a common purpose—the theme of expression.The theme of the work contains the creator's intention,life perception and thinking about society.The theme determines the height and depth of film and television works,and is one of the measures of whether a work has value.This article focuses on the script "Reunion" from three aspects to explain how to richly and profoundly express the theme when creating film and television works.The first part elaborates on the theme of the script during the script creation.The first is through the setting of "foreshadowing",in addition to the main plot,by adding "foreshadowing",the plot is echoed before and after,thereby highlighting the connotation of the theme.The second is the setting of "misunderstanding".With the misunderstanding resolved,the characters' emotions change,the plot develops clearly,and the theme naturally appears.The third is the setting of "re-encounter".The "re-encounter" plot completes the character's experience and growth story,while emphasizing the emotional change,highlighting the theme.The second part expounds the prominence of the characters' actions on the theme.The first is to directly expose the character's emotional state through the description of the characters' foreign speech actions.The second is to show the dreams of the characters to discover the hidden voices of the characters that are not clearly expressed in the script.The third is to enrich the relationship and emotions of the characters through subjective and objective alternating narratives,thereby highlighting the theme.The third part explains how to enrich the theme expression through environmental design.The situation and emotional details of the characters are shown from the two aspects of scene setting and use of props,which reflects the film as an audiovisual art,and the visual effect is also one of the expressions of the theme.
