| War movies have a natural advantage in shaping heroes and eulogizing heroism,which has also been put into practice all the time.Ever since the start of the new century,Chinese war films,in the changing social communication environment and the situation where the dominant culture communicates and integrates with other cultures,has responded to people' s call for realistic hot-blooded but sensitive masculine characters,and worked proactively to improve their hero-shaping.On the whole,in the past twenty years since 2000,Chinese war movies have been at a transition period of adjusting the hero-shaping patterns from the old to the new.On the one hand,the old hero pattern--a perfect omnipotent character remains;on the other hand,proper adjustment has also been made in line with the change of the times and the market to shape hero characters with human nature and sensibilities.Chinese war movies have continued its traditional character relation patterns while adding new features to specific characters individually in the hero-shaping.The shaping of realistic hero characters with human nature and the construction of a balanced hero group have shown the film production teams' pursuit and protection of life' s value,as well as their respect of the true history and reflection on cruel wars.This is an improvement and gem of Chinese war films in the new century.Moreover,these hero characters reflect the value advocated by the dominant ideology and guide people spiritually with good examples in a silent manner,thus enhancing the supporting role of the mainstream value in the society.As people retrospect the times when the passionate forefathers sacrificed themselves for the just cause of the nation,they will understand their lofty patriotism,selflessness,tenacity and determination,and take them as the spirit needed by our country today.Therefore,it is an important value of the hero characters in war movies to promote the heroism and support the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. |
