Deferred gratification is the ability to give up small immediate rewards in exchange for larger rewards. The ability of preschoolers to delay gratification is closely related to individual academic performance and social communication ability The researchers' research on the influencing factors of children's delayed gratification ability mainly focuses on investigating the inhibitory control ability of children themselves,as well as the attraction of waiting objects and other factors.Recent studies have found that social factors such as interpersonal trust and family environment also affect children's delay waiting. For example, the more trustworthy the experimenter is,the higher the education level of the mother is,the longer the delay time of the children. However, there are few empirical studies.Studies have shown that young children are able to manage their reputations from the age of three and are more pro-social in order to be judged well by others. So does reputation promote delay in young children? This is the main concern of this researchIn this study, two experiments were conducted to investigate the performance characteristics of delayed waiting ability of children aged 3-4 under different reputation conditionsIn experiment 1,132 children aged 3-4 years were selected to investigate the performance of children in the delay waiting task under the teacher's reputation condition and the delay waiting task without the teacher's reputation condition using the classic delayed gratification paradigm, and the inhibition and control ability of children was tested using the hammer tapping task. The results showed that, compared with the condition without reputation, children aged 3-4 in the condition of teacher reputation had a longer average waiting time and a higher proportion of people waited for 15 minutes. In addition, after controlling for children's age and inhibitory control ability, the presence and absence of reputation condition still had a significant predictive effect on children's delay timeIn experiment 2,71 children aged 3-4 years were selected. The classic delayed gratification model was also used to investigate the performance of children in the delayed gratification task under the condition of good friend's reputation, and the hammers were used to measure the inhibition and control ability of children. The results showed that, compared with the condition without reputation in experiment 1,the average waiting time of children aged 3-4 in experiment 2 under the condition of good friend reputation was significantly longer, and the proportion of people waiting for 15 minutes was significantly higher. In addition, after controlling children's age and inhibitory control ability, the presence and absence of reputation condition also had a significant predictive effect on children's delay time.In addition, teachers reputation condition compared with the experiment, the results showed that different reputation condition of object in the 3-4 years old children of delayed gratification task is different, children under the condition of teachers' reputation of waiting time delay is significantly higher than under the condition of a good friend of waiting time, lower the condition of teachers' reputation full 15 minutes was also significantly higher than the number of good friends. To sum up,reputation can affect the performance of children aged 3-4 in the delayed gratification task, and the influence of reputation from different objects is different.
