With the development of animation technology,the visual effects and forms of animation are constantly improving.Although academics have mixed opinions on the combination of animation and documentary,this does not affect more and more creators using animation for narrative and expression in documentaries.This article takes the use of animation elements in documentaries as the research object,and analyzes and studies the literature and animation documentary cases in the field of animation,documentaries,and animation documentaries.Under the premise that the animation is a virtual form of expression,it analyzes the narrative and ideographic use in the documentary,and concludes that the animation can transform the subject into an abstract concept into a concrete image and the role of restoring across time and space And in the documentary film’s vertical narration,horizontal sub-narration and bystander narrative structure,various styles are used flexibly.The rich and changeable color language of the animation itself and the rhythm of lens editing help express the atmosphere of the documentary while expressing a profound artistic expression.In addition,this study attempts to study and explain the complementary relationship between the "virtual" representation of the animation and the "real" frame of the real shot image.Discussing the "virtual" scene,the "virtual" mirror,and the "virtual" sound in the overall expression of the documentary,through fieldwork and copying,combining animation with real objects to create images,thereby expressing the profound meaning contained in the historical materials of the literature In the end,it becomes an image frame bearing true meaning,and produces a record value that transcends historical data and the documentary screen itself.On this basis,the author applies the research conclusions to ending works,through the design and production of animation in the documentary "Choice",to illustrate the reproducibility of animation through visual image design,the effect of production form priority and rhythm Control the role of audience emotions to complete the content narrative and artistic expression of the documentary.
