The English teaching in primary school face the dilemma of "absolute power of teachers" and"speaking English like parrot" against new modern educational background.Therefore,how to improve the students meaningful learning becomes my starting point of my essay.Based on a case study of Jianhu Experimental Primary School,I conduct a research on the questions' design in class and compare different class activities to showcase the status quo of meaningless class teaching so that the purpose of my essay focusing on meaningful teaching can be achieved by multiple demonstration of effective teaching behaviors.My essay begins with the basic introduction of theories like meaningful study,constructivism and humanism.Then the research of the questionnaires and results demonstrates the existing problems in terms of students,teachers and the questions themselves.The second contrasting study of different class activities shows the positive or negative effect on students' learning.Based on awareness of these two problems,I advocate two strategies,one is "study motivated by meaningful questions" and the other is "interest-related class activities".Guided by these strategies,I combine more concrete teaching practices with the estimation of the possible prospects in the end of my essay.I hope my essay can stimulate more peer groups to conduct more research to better implement meaningful teaching so that our students can achieve more success in English studies.
