In the art creation,the comprehensive material is not only the name of a series of materials,but also a reflection on the artistic concept,and an innovation of the formal language and spatial structure.With the development of The Times and the progress of science and technology,comprehensive materials are gradually applied to various fields of art,such as assemblage,installation art,performance art,multimedia art and design.So such picture books of comprehensive materials are the product of the diversification of contemporary art.Contemporary picture books emphasize to stand out quickly in the flood of information,and pay more attention to the timeliness and visual impact of pictures,which leads to the weakness of cultural implication and hand-made aesthetic feeling.Picture books lack interest and personality,and the sense of machinery is inundated?with pictures,and the value of art is completely lost.The use of comprehensive materials makes up for the lack of current picture books and creates infinite possibilities for the creation of picture books.Picture books that use comprehensive materials are different from other types of picture books in terms of creation techniques,expression forms,and material use.Through the analysis of the works of Jane baker,an Australian contemporary illustrator,this paper summarizes the characteristics of her use of comprehensive materials and performance techniques,so as to have an in-depth understanding of the relationship between comprehensive materials and picture books,and further expand the use of comprehensive materials in picture books through the creative practice.
