The Cultivation Of Children’s Shame

Shame,in the moral feeling area,is a protection zone for people in moral terms and it is also a final line.People will avoid getting themselves stuck be in a lower level when they start realizing the sense of shame and then archive self improvement in a higher level.It is a vital effect for adolescents to cultivate the sense of shame,because it is help them to develop moral characters healthily.Moreover,for young children,shame plays an important role in generating the citizens’ characters and national spirits.Society has developed at astounding pace over past decades;therefore,an increasing number of people concentrate on martial desires.In that case,there is a lot of negative ethos in our daily life,such as utilitarianism,hedonism,money worship and so on.Due to the age and self characteristics of young people,they can not independently judge events and objects and do not have stable thinking and consciousness.If children do not have enough abilities of analysis and discrimination,they are easily confound the right with the wrong,lost themselves and feel shameless.In addition,the real situation of children’s shame need to been got a further understanding,in order to find out problems of sense of shame among current young people.This research focuses on children who is between 6-14 years old.Questionnaires have been given out to those students,and the interviews which base on the results of questionnaires involved their teachers.According to the results there are some problems about shame at school and family level,on the other hand,the state of shame of public and individual morality goes well.If young people feel shame,escaping will be the main way for them.At the same time,teachers do not have scientific teaching way in shame education.This paper will focus on public domain,educational domain and private domain,and will try to detect the basic cause of adolescents’ shame problems.Firstly,in thepublic field,nowadays children are exposed to the postmodern ethic atmosphere and the exploding quantities of data.And those influences would crash children’s sense of shame.Meanwhile,the loss of national shame culture also impacts on juveniles’ sense of shame at some extent.Secondly,in the educational field,the formalization of moral education leads to the tendency of emphasizing cognition but neglecting emotion in the way of moral education,and shame is often used as a method of ethic teaching in the process of moral education.What is more,teachers do not know students’ acceptability about formation of shame during teaching process.The last but not least,in the private field,children are short of correct moral self-awareness,do not have strongly moral reflections,are afraid of mistake exposure and lack a rational coping style of ashamed.In light of the analysis of three different level,this paper studies the construction strategies for the development of children’s health shame.In the public area,it is important to create a good social ethical atmosphere,and the social media could play a positive role in it.In addition,it is essential to develop culture and moral education in the whole society and carry forward national excellent shame culture.In the educational area,teachers could actively carry out experiential moral education in order to guide students’ sense of honor and shame.It is key for educators to clearly understand the forbidden area of shame education and to adhere to principles in a proper way.Moreover,teachers also need to guide children to develop an appropriate healthy sense of shame.As for students themselves,there would be a self-dialogue about moral education,form “self” to “objective self”,between young people.In addition,juveniles need to build their own ethic imagination.And besides,teachers could help them to establish the significant others’ conscious and lead them to learn manage their own shame.Emotional experience could better help children realize the identification and internalization of moral norms.Furthermore,it is a remarkable meaning for teenagersto develop children’s moral emotion and quality.On moral education,teachers ought to pay more attention to shame learning,so that students could clearly know the bottom line.And they also need to keep fear in their heart and be goodness to others.
