The purpose of this research is to explore how electronic music fans construct self-identity through the use of social media.Electronic music fans,based on the media attributes of mobile social media,which are both segmented and connected,have both exposed and hidden practice activities in the virtual community,perform self-presentation and establish relationships with others in the virtual community.So as to realize the construction of self-identity.In recent years,the cultural industry has developed well.China's electronic music has developed rapidly,which attracts many young people.Electronic music and Rave culture have become an important way for young people to express their personalities and reshape their self-identity.which also become an outlet for young people to release under heavy social pressure.Electronic music fans construct self-identity through their activities in the real world and online virtual communities.In the process of constructing self-identity,the media becomes an important role.Young people reshape their self-knowledge through the media in the constructed cultural space,display themselves and establish self-identity.Based on the carnival theory,this research takes the virtual community and electronic music activities in the real world as the field of observation,combined with in-depth interviews of electronic music fans as empirical material,to analysis how electronic music fans practice continuous interaction through their activities in virtual communities and the real world.Further explore how netizens use the connectivity of social media to eliminate the isolation of individuals,use various symbols for personal self-presentation,reshape the identity of individuals in a carnival field such as the virtual community and to establish their own identity.The study found that for electronic music fans,the virtual community is a place where group interaction occurs,showing the cultural characteristics of the group.Individual media practice,the key for personal identity,has promoted the process of identity construction in the electronic music virtual community from short interaction to continuous interaction.Media empowerment conveys the electronic music culture,and unique rules have been constructed in the seemingly irregular carnival field.The use of exclusive symbols and the expression of equal and intimate words further enhance the individual's identity...
