Previous cross-cultural social psychology experiments showed that culture influences individual's cognitive characteristics and emotional expression by influencing self-concept,and people in different cultures prefer different cognitive styles. In recent years, with the gradual rise of research on social class in the field of psychology,do individuals of different social classes also have differences in cognitive style? This study measures the cognitive styles of people of different social classes from three aspects:classification tasks, attribution tasks, and attention characteristics. In the context of China's cultural background, the differences in cognitive styles of high and low social classes are tested.Individualism and collectivism are introduced as a mediation variable. This study further explores the reasons for the differences in previous research results.Research 1 is a related research, using social adults and college students as samples to investigate the differences in classification tasks and attribution tasks between high and low social classes. In this study,a total of 286 social adult questionnaires and 186 college student questionnaires are received online. The results show that people of high social class prefer to classify according to the attributes of things, while people of low social class prefer to classify according to the relationship between things.Subjective social class affects personal attribution by affecting horizontal individualism, that is,the higher the individual's subjective social class, the more he prefers vertical individualism, and he is more inclined to make personal attribution.Study 2 adopts the change blindness paradigm to investigate the attention characteristics of people of high and low social class. The subjects of this study are 67 undergraduates at school. The results show that, compared with the higher class people, the lower class people can quickly and accurately recognize the changes in the expressions of the marginal characters, that is,the lower social class people have a more holistic cognitive style. This study draws the following conclusions:(1)An individual's social class can predict its cognitive style.Higher social class individuals prefer analytical cognitive style and lower social class individuals prefer holistic cognitive style.(2)Individualism-collectivism plays a mediation role in the influence of social class on attribution preference.
