Material Application And Spiritual Expression

In traditional painting,the exploration and application of materials mainly serves as the modeling language and color language of the picture on the technical level,and has always been in the subsidiary position.With the development of modern art,artists are making bold artistic explorations,and the charm and value of materials themselves are gradually shown in their works.Materials not only have unique material properties,but also contain a lot of social and humanistic information.Artistic creation is influenced by the cultural connotation and spiritual direction of materials.In the process of using materials for creation,artists need to understand the characteristics of the materials,dig into the hidden properties of the materials,and then select the materials to achieve a more subtle and direct expression of the spiritual level in the works.The development of comprehensive material painting breaks through the rules of traditional painting,and the material gradually rises from the artistic carrier to the main body,and becomes the bridge for viewers to perceive the artist's spirit.This paper discusses the spirit conveyed by the material as the main body of the picture in artistic creation.Article mainly divides into three parts,the first part briefly introduces the basic overview of the composite material painting and the development,the second part through the analysis of the relationship between material and artists and analysis of Chinese and western artists to explore to express the relationship between material and spirit,the third part is the exploration of their graduation creation process as well as some experiences in the creative practice,through the practice of personal grope for analysis of material and spiritual expression,trying to find their own direction.
