The core qualities of English subject are proposed and the importance of pragmatic knowledge in senior high school English is clarified in English curriculum standard for senior high school(2017 Edition).However,English Teaching in senior high school still pays more attention to the accumulation and learning of language knowledge,neglecting the cultivation of pragmatic competence.Therefore,to cultivate students' ability to use English appropriately in context,this study attempts to explore ways to cultivate their pragmatic competence in senior high school English class.This study expects to explore the following problems through experimental research:(1)How to cultivate pragmatic competence in English class?(2)What is the impact on students' pragmatic competence of consciously cultivating their pragmatic competence in class?Firstly,the researcher analyzes the pragmatic knowledge in the current senior high school English textbooks on the basis of pragmatic theories.Then,based on the pragmatic knowledge in textbooks,pragmatic teaching is carried out.At last,a questionnaire survey and an interview were conducted to investigate the students' pragmatic competence and awareness of pragmatic learning.After experiments and analysis,researchers found that the cultivation of pragmatic competence can be integrated into all aspects of the classroom,such as vocabulary,discourse,listening,oral English,etc.by increasing the input of topic related cultural knowledge,strengthening the pragmatic construction in the learning process,and setting up activities to cultivate pragmatic competence and that this kind of teaching has a positive effect on the cultivation of senior students' Pragmatic Competence.However,pragmatic ability is a kind of comprehensive ability,which is composed with reasoning ability,discourse organization ability and social language ability,so the overall improvement of the pragmatic competence doesn't mean that all of the abilities contained in the pragmatic competence are improved.In addition,Students have aone-sided understanding of pragmatics because most of them only focus on the influence of social environment,but ignore the influence of other factors such as people's psychological state,status,time and situation of dialogue on discourse.There are several suggestions about English teaching in high school.The awareness of the cultivation of pragmatic competence should be raised in English teaching.Materials should be understood from a pragmatic perspective.The application of vocabulary and grammar in specific situations should be enhanced.Class activities to cultivate the pragmatic competence of students should be set up in English class.
