Listening,speaking,reading,and writing are the four basic skills.Grammar is one of the important components of language knowledge,and language knowledge is essential for students to learn language.To master these skills,we must first learn grammar knowledge.The study of grammar knowledge is inseparable from grammar teaching.At present,the domestic grammar teaching method is mainly deductive.Although this method enables students to grasp the grammar rules and sentence patterns,it also has brought some problems,such as students' lack of interest in the teaching process and flexibility in application English,which may diminish their interest in grammar learning and even English learning.The game teaching method is a teaching method that has both game and teaching features.The game teaching method is introduced into grammar teaching in this study.The two questions are “ How does the game teaching method affect the attitude of junior high school students in learning English grammar? ” and “ Can the game teaching method improve the English grammar scores of junior high school students? ” The experiment is based on the grammatical knowledge of the seventh grade of the new target of the PEP.The teacher and the class hours are the same for the experimental class and the control class.Taking 100 students of two classes in the Grade seven of a middle school from Baota district in Yanan city as subject,the experiment lasted from September 2019 to January 2020,which lasted five months all together.Based on the two theories of Experiential Learning Theory and Affective Filter Hypothesis,students learn grammar knowledge through games,and in the control class the teacher uses the conventional grammar teaching method.Questionnaires,interviews and tests were used during the experiment.The questionnaire is used to test the change of students' attitude after applying the game teaching method,the interview is designed to further check the change in their interests in grammar,and the test is aimed to detect changes in their grades.The study results show that the students have changed their attitudes towards English grammar learning in the experimental class,and their enthusiasm for learning English grammar has been improved before and after the implementation of the game teaching method.At the same time,students can actively ask the teacher or discuss with their classmates,and the grammar scores of the students in the experimental class have also improved.
