Project-Based Learning is a teaching strategy to cultivate the comprehensive abilities of teenagers.Students complete a project by planning and solving a series of tasks to finally achieve a goal or solve a problem.Through doing projects,students integrate their knowledge of various subjects and life experience,evaluate their own performance and promote teamwork.The author adopted both quantitative and qualitative analysis methods,and analyzed statistics of the research results with the help of SPSS and interviews on students.This empirical research on Project-Based Learning in this paper was based on the theory of Constructivism and the theory of Pragmatism,which guides the author to make teaching designs for the project learning used in the research.The author adopted Oxford's learning strategies as well as the definitions and classifications of learning strategies in The English Curriculum Standard.The author used Project-Based Learning in the teaching of Checkout time and Project in primary school English to explore ways to cultivate learning strategies for primary school students.This empirical research was carried out in B primary school where the author works and lasted for a term.The research objects were 87 students in two classes of grade 4.Class 1 was an experimental class,applying Project-Based Learning while Class 2 was a control class,using traditional teaching methods.This paper is due to solve the following questions: 1.What is the feasibility and effectiveness of applying Project-Based Learning to primary school English teaching to cultivate students' learning strategies? 2.What learning strategies does the application of Project-Based Learning in primary school English teaching help students cultivate and how to help them cultivate these strategies?The results showed that Project-Based Learning is feasible in primary school English teaching of Checkout time and Project.It can improve students' learning strategies,especially the metacognitive strategies,emotional strategies,socialstrategies and compensation strategies.The students can cultivate metacognitive strategies through planning and evaluation of the project.The teacher can help students develop emotional strategies by encouraging them to try their best in project learning.The students can develop social strategies through cooperation in completing project tasks with their classmates.They can also develop compensation strategies with the help of the teacher.
