In Investigation Of Constructionalization And Inheritance Network For Negative Constructions "You Shen Me X(De)" And Its Relevent Construvtions

This paper makes a systematic research on “you shen me X(de)” construction,mainly by using the theory of constitutionalization and construction change.On the basis of previous researches and based on the corpus facts,this paper further explores this structure's process of constitutionalization and construction change by combining diachronic and synchronic methods.After that,this paper investigates the prototype,extension and inheritance mode,evolution mechanism and motivation of the structure.The first chapter is the introduction,which expounds the research object,the significance of the topic,the research status,the applied theory and the source of the corpus.The second chapter agrees with the academia that “you shen me X(de)” is a construction,and makes a comprehensive investigation and classification on the constituent types which can enter this construction.Then uses the formation of rhetorical questions to deduce the construction meanings of all kinds of constituent types.It finds that “you shen me X(de)” has four negative sub-constructions,namely attribute negation,entity negation,conditional negation and value negation.The third chapter is to investigate “he X zhi you” in ancient times.“he X zhi you”is the manifestation pattern of “you shen me X(de)” and constitutionalized in the medium term of Warring States Period.“he X zhi you” inherits multiple formations in the process of constitutionalization and after that,has high constructional vitality and generality,and low constructive property.With the frequent usage,it evolves two negative meaning types.The fourth chapter inspects the structure type change of “you shen me X(de)”mode.In Western Han and Eastern Han Dynasties,"he +Noun” used as object which changed from preposition to postposition,and “he X zhi you” turned to be “you he X”.This change kept the same pace with interrogative object which reflected the general trend of the development of Chinese word order.After this period,“you he X”developed continually with the interrogative “he” changed,and then “you shen/shen me X” appeared.In Song Dynasties,“X” has the form of “VP/AP chu” which marked its nominalization.In Qing Dynasties,“de” replaced “chu”.In this way,“you shen me X(de)” completed new adjustment in the syntactic category and evolved four types in the semantic category.Thus,“you shen me X(de)” constitutionalized.The fifth chapter detailedly analyzes the inheritance relationship of the related mode of “you shen me X(de)”.We think the prototype of “you shen me X(de)” is “you shen me NP”.Construction in the process of evolution,has the inheritance relationship not only with the external related modes,but also the interior constituents.“you shen me X(de)” externally evolves “V shen me O”,some noun phrase consisted of “he” used as adverbial and predicate.“you shen me X(de)” internally evolves “you shen me VP”,and “you shen me VP” evolves “you shen me NP”.The sixth chapter analyzes the mechanism and motivation of the structure evolution of "you shen me X(de)".The mechanism of the structure evolution is analogy and reanalysis,and the motivation of the structure evolution is the economic principles of language and the high frequency of the use of the structure.
