The two major art forms of novel and Chinese opera have a long history,and they have been accompanied and developed together.They have always been considered to have the same origin,different flow and mutual penetration.In ancient literature,especially in Ming and Qing literature,Chinese opera nourished novel continuously,and became the focus of academic attention.In modern and Contemporary times,Chinese opera has entered a marginal dilemma,and its influence on novel has been relatively reduced.Until around the new century,with the trend of finding roots in culture and revitalizing traditional culture,the Chinese opera is full of vigor and vitality again.The elements of Chinese opera in novel are constantly emerging,and the relationship between novel and Chinese opera was closer and more fused again.This phenomenon deserves attention and research.This article uses methods such as close reading and interdisciplinary research,and takes Chinese opera elements in the new century novel as the research object.On the basic of combing and integrating the present form of Chinese opera elements in the new-century novel,using the theory of novel narratology and opera aesthetics to explore the narrative and aesthetic functions of Chinese opera elements in the novel.It also expounds the significance and value of borrowing Chinese opera elements from the novel of the new century to the development of literature and the inheritance of Chinese opera from the perspective of cross-art forms.It is hoped that the overall research on the relationship between novel and Chinese opera will be enriched,and the research on Chinese opera elements in the novel of the new century will be deepened and innovative.The introduction part of the thesis mainly defines the "elements of Chinese opera",and briefly describes the historical relationship between Chinese opera and novel.The main body of the thesis is divided into four chapters.Chapter Two sorts out and analyzes the types of Chinese opera elements in the new century novel.The whole chapter summarizes the present forms of Chinese opera elements in the novel into three major types: the characterization of Liyuan characters and the life of Liyuan,the integration of Chinese opera music and story elements,and the penetration of Chinese opera literary theory and techniques.Using examples and comparative analysis methods,it not only integrates the diversified expressions of opera elementsin the novels of the new century,but also focuses on the characteristics of its presentation form.Chapter Three and Chapter Four discuss the narrative and aesthetic functions of drama elements in the novel of the new century,and try to analyze the different narrative and aesthetic functions of Chinese opera elements from the point of view,and grasp their differences and connections from a stance standpoint.Chapter Three cuts through the narrative commonality of novel and Chinese opera,selects works with outstanding opera characteristics and certain narrative achievements in the novel of the new century,and discusses the narrative function of opera elements in the novel from three dimensions: narrative content,structure and perspective.Chapter Four starts from the three aesthetic characteristics of opera poetic aesthetics,regional aesthetics,and the color of tragedy and joy,and uses aesthetic theories in combination with novel texts to explore the influence of the aesthetic characteristics of opera in the novel and the effect of opera elements on the aesthetic style of the novel.The last chapter extends the vision to the level where the two arts of novel and Chinese opera interact,focus on the development status and prospects of the two in this specific period of the new century.To explore the significance and value of opera elements entering novels,a cross-art phenomenon in novels and dramas.
