Susan Collins(1962-)is a world's bestselling contemporary American TV writer and was awarded “Time 100” in 2016.In September 2008,the first book of The Hunger Games trilogy was printed and published.According to Collins,The Hunger Games was inspired in part by the Greek mythology of Theseus and Minotaur,and another source of inspiration was her father 's air force career which deepened her understanding of the consequences of poverty,hunger and war.The story of The Hunger Games trilogy takes place in Panem,a post-apocalyptic country in North America.Its center,Capitol,“reaps” each of the 12 districts for two “tributes” for Hunger Games in order to maintain the rule.Katniss,the female tribute from District 12 takes advantages of her skills living in the wild to survive the game with her allay-Peeta.At the end of this game,she uses love to force the game maker to change the rules and wins the game.However,in the following year,the sly President Snow holds the special 75 th edition of the Hunger Games —known as the Quarter Quell.Katenes,as the symbol of resistance– Mockingjay,is involved in the whirlpool of riots and forced to become a chess piece of the rebels.She takes on the expectations of districts people to change the fate of Panem.With the awakening and development of her and the public's ecological consciousness,Katniss completed the ecological transformation of herself and the country.This paper intends to introduce the concept of ecotopia and conduct a brief comparative analysis with dystopia.While interpreting the dystopian theme in the novel,this thesis reveals the hints of ecological consciousness hidden in the text.Through the analysis of the development and manifestation of the ecological consciousness of the heroine Katniss and the main characters in the novel and the various ecological metaphors of nature and humanity spread in the text,the thesis try to analyze the author 's suggestions for constructing ecotopia world in the novel.This thesis explores the inevitable destruction of the dystopia world due to the political system,human nature and some other reasons,and looks for the approaches t o construct an ecological society in the novel.This thesis believes that although the public generally considers this novel as a dystopian adolescent novel,the ecotopia spirit in it is also worth studying.
