Research On Chen Danyan's City Writing

Chen Danyan is an important representative writ er in contemporary Shanghai writing,and an outstanding example of contemporary Chinese travel literature.Her urban writing about Shanghai and Europe has great research space and realistic value.In recent years,critics of Chen Danyan's literary creation mostly focused on her different subjects,including isolatedly discussingher children's novels,adult literature,or Shanghai writing styles and meanings,but ignored the distinctiveness of her works' spatial and geographical characteristics,and the importance of external field experience for her personal growth and literary creation transformation.This thesis mainly adopts cultural geography,cultural memory,identity and other theories to discuss the urban writing in Chen Danyan's literary creation,and to analyze the multiple themes of cultural memory,homeland pursuit,identity and so on.The introduction part mainly sorts out Chen Danyan's literary creation and its research status,summarizes the source and connotation of the theory invoked in this paper,and expounds the significance of the selected topic,the research ideas and methods.The first chapter analyzes the writing of its urban space image and explores the characteristics of each of the cafes and buildings in Shanghai and Europe and the parts that mirror each other.The second chapter explains the different emotional attitudes of its memory about Shanghai and exotic imagination about Europe.Aiming to interpret the sentiment of Shanghai's colonial memory and the memories of the Cultural Revolution,as well as its obsession with European exotic imagination.The third chapter discusses its urban writing position and ae sthetic methods.From the perspective of the traveler's writing position,the "non-fictional" writing strategy and the dual mirror writing,the author elaborates the differences and connections between the memories of Shanghai and European cities.The fourth chapter explores the themes and cultural choices of urban writing in her works.Therefore,the problem of homeland awareness,the personal identity problems,and identity crisis of Shanghai and even China under post-colonial era are discussed and deeply analysed.Conclusion.On the basis of summing up the paper,it further points out the significance of Chen Danyan's creations to the contemporary literary world,including her social responsibilities as a new generation of Shanghai school writers,and her influence on the contemporary travel writing.
