This paper discusses the rise and development of Academy in Jizhou in Song Dynasty,as well as its quantity,space and time distribution and influence.In the Song Dynasty,jizhou(today's Ji 'an City)had eight counties,including Thihe(today's Taihe),Jishui,Anfu,Longquan(today's Suichuan),Yongxin,Yongfeng,Wanan and Luling(today's Ji 'an County),with a total area of about22765 square kilomates.There were 36 academies in Jizhou in Song Dynasty,34 of which were newly built.These academies were built within the background of advocated Confucianism and literature,flourishing Neo-Confucianism,rapid economic development,gradual increase in population,rapid progress in agriculture,prosperous commerce and convenient land and water transportation in Jizhou in the Song Dynasty.Thirty-six academies were unevenly distributed.Among them,Taihe County has the largest number of academies,namely nine.Both Anfu and Yongxin County have the least number of two.The development and prosperity of academies brought great influence to Jizhou.First,it caused the emergence of talents.In the Song Dynasty,Jizhou Academy was well-developed,with a large number of imperial examinations scholars.There were also many famous scholars in Song History,such as Ouyang Xiu,Yang Wanli and Wen Tianxiang.Secondly,it helped to cultivate local value that emphasized justice and etiquette.There were many articles and works left by Jizhou People in Song Dynasty,which had the reputation of“a nation of articles with festival and justice”.Thirdly,the folk custom of attaching importance to education gradually formed.
