Amos Oz is one of the most famous writers in Israel. In the medium-term stage of his writing,Oz mainly realized two changes: First,in writing styles,he continued to advance his narrative style and adopted a more flexible narrative form in order to adapt to the core of the story.Second,on writing contents,Oz rethinks the dangerous tendency of Israel's collective unconsciousness, then reminds readers of the spread of extreme nationalism through his works. He paid attention to the images of the Diaspora Jews that were once placed on the marginal position of Israeli cultural context, and even put them in the focus of his writing. This is of great significance to breaking the cultural hegemonism that the Sabra images are full of social and cultural context after the founding of Israel.Chapter One is the basis of this paper. In Chapter One,the author analyzes the overall writing style of Oz's works,so as to sort out the background of Oz's medium-term writing and point out its connection of the early and late stage works. This chapter also tries to trace back the reasons of Oz's medium-term turn from the perspective of Israel's society, history and culture.Chapter Two makes a concrete analysis on Oz's “Panther in the Basement” and compares it with works of similar themes in Oz's early works.Oz uses the juvenile perspective and the “implicit author” to express his emotions, and reflects on Israel's extreme nationalism in the writing content, which sends a warning signal to readers.Chapter Three analyzes “A Tale of Love and Darkness” and points out that Oz uses the non-linear narrative in this book to adapt to the writing content.By “Letting the subaltern speak” and “Speaking for the subaltern”,Oz not only tells the history of the ordinary Ashkenazi Jews, but also returns to his cultural identity.By scrutinizing the texts, this paper tries to analyze the changes in Oz's narrative approach and writing contents,in order to analyze Oz's medium-term turn of his writing.
