China has in total 56 ethnic groups.Throughout the ages,each ethnic group strived along the mighty nature and had created outstanding folk music of great representativeness.Development of folk music in east Inner Mongolia can be seen as an inheritance of the ethnic minorities’ nomadic music and grassland music in northern China.It is also the quintessence of the grassland culture.In east Inner Mongolia area,the Daur nationality has relatively less population among the 56 ethnic groups.Together with the Oroqen nationality and the Ewenki nationality,they formed the so called “Three Minorities“.Most Daur live around the Daur Autonomous Banner of Morin Dawa in Hulun Buir city,the Ewenki Autonomous Banner,the Oroqen Autonomous Banner and the Maurice region in Qiqihaer city;only few live in Xinjiang,Liaoning or other provinces.The Daur are born with talents in singing and dancing and later they get well shaped by the environment.As time goes by,the Daur generations had created and developed their own language and music of evident national characteristics,as well as their unique local customs and religions.The Daur had survived and grew throughout the mighty torrent of history.Since ancient times,the all-inclusive Duar folk songs is quite representative with multiple themes and remarkable music images.In some extent,the preservation and development of Duar’s music recounts their history;displays their social features,religions and their daily lives.Therefore,it is of great significance for the future recomposition and creation of folk music to carefully study Daur folk songs from all perspectives of theory of composition.This article focuses on many aspects of theory of composition.Analyze and study the Duar’s folk songs by its forms and techniques used to write them.First,based on existing study,I will briefly introduce the following aspects of Daur nationality,including geographical culture,the cause of the folk songs and the background and genres.This is to provide readers with sufficient knowledge on Duar’s society and culture for them to further comprehend those songs.Second,I had collected,organized and analyzed a number of the Daur’s folk songs to better study and understand them.During the process,theoretical knowledge like morphology of music analysis is mainly utilized to examine the songs’ melody,musical structure,mode,rhythm and metre,and lyrics which had led to a conclusion on the musical characteristics of this hot-blooded nationality.Third,by comparison of folk songs in ancient and modern times,I had studied the techniques employed on those songs adapted from the Daur’s folk songs and came to a conclusion on the various methods to spread folk music.For example,to apply various kinds of national and western instruments to accompany folk songs reflects the collision of Chinese and western music.To apply electronic music increases new atmosphere to the folk songs.Last but not least,I stated the meanings and prospects to inherit and develop the Duar’s folks songs.I hope this paper can be meaningful to me in the future while I’ve decided to engage myself in the field of studying and composing folk music.At the same time,I hope this can provide reference value and theoretical support in the Daur’s folk songs’ inheritance and development.
